This metabolic process is called the urea cycle. Urea was the first organic compound obtained by artificial synthesis of inorganic substances. lg this product is soluble in 1ml water, 10mL 95% ethanol, 1mL 95% boiling ethanol, 20ml anhydrous ethanol, 6ml methanol, 2ml glycerol, soluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid, almost insoluble in ether, chloroform. When heated above the melting point, it decomposes into biuret, ammonia and cyanuric acid.
